Defence School of Transport, Leconfield

Recently completed are these two multi-occupancy buildings at the Defence School of Transport (DST) in Leconfield, East Yorkshire.

DST is the largest residential driver training school in the world, providing driver and transport management training to military personnel from the Army, RAF & Royal Marines, as well as support to global operations. The new buildings, which were delivered by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) for the Army, will accommodate students completing short courses at DST.

Delap & Waller assisted offsite construction specialist Reds10, in the design of these blocks, which provide 112 bedspaces across 2-3 person rooms, alongside ablutions, drying and utility rooms.

Sustainable features include rooftop solar panels, air source heat pumps and heat recovery systems. SMART building technology was installed, providing detailed information on their energy usage, feeding directly into subsequent building design and specifications.
