Gowan Student Accommodation Scheme, Dublin

Delap & Waller are delighted to be part of the project team for the recently granted Gowan Student Accommodation Scheme. The development designed by HKR Architects for Hollybrook Homes, will provide 899 purpose built student rooms, across buildings varying in height from thirteen to ten storeys.

The masterplan includes shared community and cultural space, retail space and public realm located on the River Carmac.

Delap & Waller provided Climate action , Energy and Sustainability analysis, Energy Modelling, Overheating Assessments, Mechanical and Electrical design and Public Lighting design as part of the design and planning submission.

The highly sustainable development, utilises passive design principles to reduce energy demand through a highly efficient fabric specification and heat recovery ventilation systems throughout. The glazing specification has been carefully designed to balance solar gain in both winter and summer months. The project will use highly efficient air source heat pumps to address hot water heating. Overall the Gowan House student accommodation complies with the Nearly Zero Energy Building standard with a BER A rating, aligning with future Climate Action targets.
