Mullingar Hospital
Delap & Waller were appointed to carry out a high-level options appraisal for Mullingar Regional Hospital campus, to determine the potential energy and carbon savings achievable through the implementation of a range of different energy efficiency measures and technologies, including Low and Zero Carbon Generating Technologies (LZCGTs). The assessment and report explored potential options that would help the HSE meet their 2030 climate aspirations such as; 50% improvement in energy efficiency and 50% carbon dioxide emissions. Completed site surveys to each of the buildings at Mullingar Regional Hospital provided analysis to understand the fabric and services for each room type. Information was then used to generate an IESVE 2021 energy model providing a baseline understanding of how energy is used and the carbon emissions. A range of options were then assessed which allowed the hospital to achieve reduced carbon and energy consumption. The solutions focused on providing an element of future-proofing through considering appropriate future fuel source and reducing ongoing maintenance and running costs.
