St Columba’s College (NZEB) – Redevelopment

The development consists of a series of refurbishments to some buildings, with others to be demolished to make way for the building of new extensions. The new build extensions areas will achieve compliance with Part L 2017 “nearly Zero Energy Building Standard (NZEB). This requires an overall improved energy performance for the fabric, services and lighting specification. Delap & Waller, as appointed M&E Engineers, remit is to achieve the required standards with their designs, in compliance with the Department of Education directives. Energy saving elements explored in our designs include: solar photovoltaic panels, Air to Water Heat Pumps, LED lighting with movement sensors and a review of all appropriate energy efficiencies for the existing buildings. This project is expected to complete in 2024.
