St Kieran’s College (NZEB) – Extensions and Refurbishment

The oldest Catholic Secondary School in Ireland, the school consists of a complex of up to eight separate, or inter-connected buildings, ranging in date from the 18th Century to more recent additions. Delap & Waller were appointed as M&E Engineers for the upgrading and refurbishment of the main school buildings along with a 5,219sqm new build extension. Particular attention has been given to the energy performance, in accordance with Part L Regulations (NZEB) Design requirements include a 10% on-site renewable contribution from PV generated electricity. The design includes consideration of possible thermal improvements in the existing buildings, this being assisted by a review of energy performance of the whole building (overall BER). This project is expected to be completed in 2024.
