Bushmills Courthouse

Delap & Waller were part of the design team on the restoration of the derelict Victorian Grade B1 listed Old Courthouse in Bushmills, and 3-storey extension to the rear, to transform the derelict courthouse into a unique, state of the art shared space creative hub.

The Bushmills Courthouse Creative Hub was funded by Special EU Programmes Body-PEACE IV, to develop a Shared Space Creative Hub in Bushmills.

The 15,600sqft new arts and cultural hub now features 15 multipurpose areas where people can create, market, educate and collaborate with one another. The hub also features a messy studio, café and meeting, event and retail space, and a new home for the local arts and crafts social enterprise, The Designerie.

Delap & Waller were appointed as Mechanical, Electrical & Sustainability consultants for all stages of the project. With our involvement energy and carbon were minimised through passive means such as fabric improvements, thermal mass and natural ventilation and the Target BREEAM award was ‘Very Good’
