Guildhall Derry & Harbour Museum

The Guildhall and the Harbour Museum Buildings are Grade I listed buildings. Initially Delap & Waller were commissioned to provide a Building Services Report on the Guildhall. Following all surveys the design team put together a Final Concept Development Plan for presentation to the Council which gave an idea of all restoration and conservation work required in a 10 year period. The appointment covered detailed M&E design work along with detailed costings in order for the Council to prepare grant applications to fund the necessary works. Following this, the design team were employed to supervise the carrying out of the necessary works.

The Restoration of the Guildhall was divided into two phases:

Phase 1: Commenced August 2010 and involved the external refurbishment including repairs to the external fabric of the Guildhall and associated mechanical and electrical work.

Phase 2: Commenced February 2012 and involved the internal refurbishment of the Guildhall and Harbour Museum Building which includes complete replacement of the existing mechanical and electrical installations in line with current building regulations, whilst embracing the sensitive aspect of the building’s historical architectural value.

Winner of RSUA Conservation Award 2014.
